By making an EPA now you choose who will look after your affairs in the event that for whatever reason you are unable to do so (for example you may lose mental capacity). Otherwise the Court of Protection becomes involved and it is the Court who appoints a complete stranger to administer your affairs. Additional fees and costs will then be payable.

You can grant your Attorney wide powers or they may be restricted to particular areas, for example to administer property investments or bank accounts.
